Passing of Shedder Lloyd Smith

One of Lloyd’s daughters informed us early this afternoon that Lloyd had passed away peacefully in a hospice at 12.30pm

Lloyd joined the Shedders soon after we started in March 2016. See what he said soon after on camera by visiting the video at the top of the home page.

A retired farmer, he used his time to benefit the Sleights community by serving on the Parish Council. We would joke about the Parish Police coming to spy on us! He had a fund of practical knowledge of “doing” and was never shy to voice his view on how something might be done. Sheds thrive on characters (we have a Shed full!) and Lloyd was one we always loved to have amongst us, driving his car down into the Littlebeck valley.

Lloyd was capable of looking after himself at home until quite recently, when for his safety and because of his health he moved into Esk Hall.

If Bob and Eddie look as if they are about to launch into each other, Lloyd was always (to us at least) a gentle soul who was a giver and (we hope) a taker.

Not to be forgotten.
