Best Face to the Camera!

From our Media Correspondent, Elaine Marsh

When I nod my head, hit it, says Tony.

The morning started with Betty’s chair . . . again!! Judging by the mallet she’s telling Tony to get it finished sharpish. There’s no doubt it will be a transformed piece of furniture when it’s done.

Vicki mesmerized by the lathe and Lance

Vicki joined Elaine’s allotment group last week; she’s recently moved to Whitby and as her new job doesn’t start until March she has time on her hands.
Lance showed her the basics of wood turning and then she was let loose. She also tried her hand at pyrography, burning a keepsake for her children.
Little did Vicki know what goes on behind closed doors in Whitby, especially as later in the morning we had more visitors.

Read on . . .

Let’s sing Lance’s praises

Lance brought in some of his works of wooden art. The  photograph doesn’t do justice to the work that’s gone into making these.

Rev. Kate with “Shedder” Sister Hannah

The BBC were filming up at the Priory for Songs of Praise and were eager to see what Sister “Shedder” Hannah gets up to in the community. [to be fair, the Order of the Holy Paraclete also wants to know!]

The Songs of Praise presenter is Rev Kate Bottley, who some may recognise from her appearances on Gogglebox. She has obviously taken to TV like a duck to water and it was a lovely relaxed morning with her there.

Sister Hannah with the motley BBC crew. A great team.

Hannah was filmed working on the lathe and she spoke about her time at the Shed.
However, we did not overhear what she actually said. Therefore we must watch the programme when it goes out on Sunday February 17th. Well worth doing to hear what she thinks of us!
